On the 6th of May, the community of Brgy. Potrero, Malabon witnessed an extraordinary event aimed at empowering and prioritizing the health of its beloved mothers. With Mother's Day just around the corner, the organizers made it their mission to provide accessible breast and cervical cancer screenings through Papsmear tests. This noble endeavor was made possible through the dedicated collaboration of several organizations and the unwavering determination of Dr. Jennifer Jane Amolo Lim.

PolyHealth Diagnostic and Laboratory Inc., a respected medical institution, took the lead in organizing the event. Recognizing the significance of early detection in preventing and treating breast and cervical cancers, they partnered with Sigma Tau Delta, Rotary Club of Makati, Rotary Club of Makati Premier District, the medical team of the Philippine Cancer Society, and the visionary Brgy Capt. Sheryl Nolasco and Mayor Jeannie Sandoval

The timing of this event holds immense importance. Breast and cervical cancers are among the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in women worldwide. Sadly, many women in underserved communities face barriers to accessing healthcare services, including financial constraints and limited awareness. The event aimed to bridge this gap, ensuring that the mothers of Brgy. Potrero had access to life-saving screenings and education.

Dr. Jennifer Jane Amolo Lim, a compassionate and dedicated healthcare professional played a pivotal role in gathering a diverse group of volunteers for the event From passionate medical students at UST to experienced doctors from Chinese General Hospital, this collective effort showcased the power of collaboration and community support.

The breast and cervical cancer screening event offered a comprehensive approach to women's health. Trained medical professionals performed Papsmear tests, a well-established method for detecting abnormalities in cervical cells that may indicate the presence of precancerous or cancerous conditions. The event also provided education on breast self-examination techniques and raised awareness about the importance of regular check-ups.

The partnership with PolyHealth Diagnostic and Laboratory Inc. ensured that the screening results were processed efficiently and accurately, enabling timely follow-up care and necessary interventions for those in need. The combined efforts of the Philippine Cancer Society's medical team and the support of the local government, led by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, demonstrated a commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of the community.

The breast and cervical cancer screening event held on May 6th in Brgy. Potrero, Malabon, will be remembered as a shining example of community solidarity and the power of proactive healthcare initiatives. By investing in the health of mothers, the event organizers safeguarded their well-being and contributed to strengthening the foundation of the entire community.

As the echoes of this impactful event fade, let us remember the importance of supporting and empowering women in their journey to better health. By working together, we can continue to make a difference and ensure that every mother has access to life-saving screenings and the care they deserve.
Together, let us create a better future—one screening at a time.
